This is an article from The Crossfit Journal.  It talks about how Crossfit for kids is growing and the huge benefits that are seen from it in a relatively short amount of time.

Playing Up—Dan Cerrillo,
CrossFit Bellevue, Bellevue, Wash.

CrossFit Level 2 trainer Dan Cerrillo moved his family
to Bellevue, Wash., so his boys could play in a nationally
ranked youth football system. After watching his son’s
football team, the Wolverines Rookie White, finish the 2010
regular season a disappointing 4-3, Cerrillo volunteered his
services to coach in 2011. The team comprised the same
boys, and he invited all of them to train at CrossFit Bellevue
for free; 17 of the 19 boys trained from May to mid-August.
The boys attended three organized WODs per week
with the help of several D1 players who were training at
CrossFit Bellevue for the summer. Starting with very basic
CrossFit Kids programming, Cerrillo kept it fun; kept the
boys disciplined; and increased volume, load, and intensity
slowly. All workouts were team based and included tire
flips, cleans and box jumps to improve the boys’ drive and
explosiveness. In addition, the boys sprinted on a flat track
and up the legendary hill behind CrossFit Bellevue.
The upshot?
The boys started the season in shape and ready to work.
They were focused and disciplined. The two boys who
missed the workouts took weeks to catch up to the other
boys in all domains. The Wolverines never allowed a
100-yard rusher, and none of players suffered any injuries
other than bumps and bruises. The Wolverines finished the
regular season 7–0 with a combined score of 259–52. The
team was ranked No. 1 in the state and was the No. 1 seed
in the state tournament. After winning three playoff games,
the Wolverines earned a shot at the Greater Eastside Junior
Football Association (GEJFA) championship. The Wolverines
won their championship game 19-12, making them the
GEJFA champions with an 11-0 undefeated season.
